What is my-iPlan?

my-iPlan is a new, dynamic web-based individual learning plan (ILP) designed to support the 21st century learner and all those involved in their learning and progress. Produced by Nord Anglia eLearning and Wolverhampton 14-19 Development Team, my-iPlan develops a whole picture of the learner - coherent and holistic - describing:

Put simply, my-iPlan is a secure (password-protected) online environment where learners aged 14 to 19 can access and input key information about themselves, their learning, their progress and their plans for the future.

Wherever, whenever, whoever

Learners can access their iPlans wherever they are engaged in the learning process.

The learner and whoever supports their learning and progress can share, review and update the iPlan whenever they want to - through secure 24/7 online access.

Empowering the 21st century learner

my-iPlan empowers learners by enabling them to participate more actively in the planning and evaluation of their own learning. Each learner owns their iPlan in which they can express aspirations, set and review personal goals and clearly see the progress they're making and the feedback they've received. However, to ensure every learner's iPlan is authentic and accurate, any information entered by the learner must be validated by an adult involved in their learning.

How it works

Pre-loaded and ready to use

By extracting data from existing management systems, every learner's iPlan can be pre-loaded with their personal information, attendance records and prior attainment. Inputting data in this way will not only save considerable time for individual teachers, but it also avoids the duplication of data and ensures the information is accurate.

One of a kind

This unique ILP cracks the issues of:

  • learner ownership
  • operational effectiveness
  • effective collaboration

my-iPlan will help learners, teachers and parents/carers to monitor and review progress:

  • Record progress made during Key Stage 3
  • Inform specific choices about the subjects/learning programme a learner will follow
  • Determine broad learning goals
  • Establish career goals, including identifying wider development activities that the learner might participate in
  • Provide the basis for continued monitoring and review of progress

Promoting post-16 take-up

my-iPlan will enable learners to get the personalised support and guidance they need in their everyday learning to be able to look, plan and progress towards post-16 education. It will also help to raise the aspirations of learners who had not previously considered further or higher education.
